Alaska

After a couple "bumps" in the road. I made it to Alaska. I left on 6/11 and a fozen debit card and two blown tires later I arrived on 6/15. It was a sweet drive though. 2,570 miles of sweetness.

some random pictures for a random morning...

Me make big fire

A picture I ran across recently from a month of two ago. The engine and sandbag wall are about 3 ft. tall.

It's what could only be called "people sitting on a plywood platform drinking beer"

Here she be, beached on the shallows.

Day 2 of last weekends trip, camped on the thing and everything. Floating has now been taken to the next level.

Saddle Peak to the 'M'

So we went on a completely reasonable bike ride today.. Around 6 hours, countless miles of hiking, and some seriously sweet views. A large portion of the ride was above 8000 feet, so my poor sea level lungs were hurting.. But we made it out without any serious injuries or bad weather. Been thinking about sleeping since I got back, but here are some pictures for now..

Climbing...

Riding the ridge...

All in all, it was a good ride... Got home late and very tired, but content.. More to come

What's new in Providence

Apparently all those times that I was angry about my streets being blocked off....well, it's been due to the filming of the new Showtime drama Brotherhood .

I just realized that I am posting on .org . ooops.

Well, enjoy. It just might not be as funny to you. Or it might be. That show Providence was a hit over in Australia....

I rule

Back in MT, after a horrible allergic reaction things were just peachy.

I bought a high end steel road bike frame for 15 bucks from a rummage(tag) sale. Some guy was liquidating peoples storage units who went delinquent. Haha, the frame hasn't hardly been ridden, if at all.. Poor derilict storage unit owner..

21st birthday

Mae's 21st birthday is tomorrow 6-7. The plan is go to floating in the afternoon, barbeque at our new place, and then most likely a trip to the bars. Our new place is 631 E. Davis. White house on the corner of Davis and Ida, Ida is a one lane gravel alley. All are welcome to come floating and/or barbequing. We'll probably be barbequing around 7 or so, bring something to cook and beer wouldn't hurt either. We'll probably leave to go floating around lunch time, give me a call if you want to go, 599-8286.

Beetles are COOL!!

My little bug trip for the summer. June 21 through Aug 3. With stops in Rome-India-Singapore-Malaysia-Borneo-North Vietnam-South Korea. The biggest chunks of time will be in India, Malaysia, and Vietnam, with a couple days in Rome, Singapore (4th of July), and Borneo to climb this mountain http://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=10966

And it's all in the name of science to collect beetles for the Beetle Tree of Life Project http://tolweb.org/tree/phylogeny.html
where my PhD funding is coming from.

Beetles like this--

Just in time...

It's been a crappy day of back pain and Matlab.. And just when things really started to suck I realized I had this puppy in the fridge.. MMMMmmmm..... high fructose corn syrup and caffiene..
