What?

I'm not really sure what is happening in either of these pictures, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Protesters storm Wal-Mart in Mexico City
Demonstrators stormed a Wal-Mart on the outskirts of Mexico City, accusing the U.S.-based retailer of selling low-cost goods at the expense of workers, farmers and public markets. About 250 protesters chanted "Out! Out!" in front of Wal-Mart's corporate headquarters before entering the adjacent store.

me make meat

Killed my first beast with a bow, here I am back at the duplex after a long day of packing out meat with my sister, aaron and kendra. We all had about 100 pound packs for about 4 miles, it was tough.

Taco Bell? Pachelbel?

I stole this post from Matt Baldwin, the defective yeti. I could have just linked to it, but there's no fun in that. His site gets plenty of views already.
Research Day: Taco Bell And The Ozone Layer
Why is Taco Bell so named?: When I was nine or ten, I was in the car with my dad when we passed one of the Taco Bells that were springing up all over our suburb. "Why do they call it that?" I asked.
My father, a classical music aficionado, thought for a moment and said "I think it's a play on the name Pachelbel. You know, the composer who wrote the Canon? And the Hexachordum Apollinis?"
That answer satisfied me for a decade and a half. Recently, though, while driving by another of the ubiquitous fast-food outlets, the question popped back into my head, and it occurred to me that a restaurant boasting a "Cheesy Gordita Crunch Supreme" for 99¢ was probably not named in honor of a seventeenth century Baroque organist. Maybe if they served a "Beef Taccota in C minor," or their soda machine dispensed "Mountain Fugue."
So today I headed over to tacobell.com, and pored over their "history" page, looking for clues as to the store's name. And by "pored over," I mean I read the first two words in their history, which were as follows:
"Glen Bell ..."Ah. The founder's name is Bell. Duh.
And so my fifteen-year investigation comes to a sudden and anti-climatic end. Wow. Honestly, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life.

Revenue
I don't think it ever snowed in town, but it did about 1000' up into the mountains. Some pics from climbing at Revenue Flats west of town where the weather is nicer.

August 30, 2006 | Issue 42•35
WASHINGTON, DC—In a nationally televised address Monday, President Bush urged all citizens, regardless of race, creed, color, or political affiliation, "to quiet down for just one minute" so he could have "a chance to think."

Haunted, A Novel...
"In all, 73 people have fainted while I've read "Guts" (a short story from Haunted). Over the Internet, I now hear stoies of other people making their peers pass out by reading it aloud. So that number keeps growing.
For a nine-page story, some nights it takes thirty minutes to read. In the first half, you're pausing for so much laughter from your audience. In the second half, you're pausing as your audience is revived."
- Chuck Palahniuk, from the afterword in his novel, Haunted.

The E100

100 mile race? Seemed like a good idea after a couple beers 3 months ago. I'll be riding almost all of the Park City(utah) trail system on Satruday starting at 6:00 am. Wish me luck.
